President Trump Signs 2018 Farm Bill Officially Re-legalizing Hemp in the United States

Hemp is officially removed from the Controlled Substance Act and 100% legal in the United States of America now that US President Donald Trump has put his signature on the much-anticipated 2018 Farm Bill. The Agricultural Improvement Act of 2018 also known as the Farm Bill officially removes hemp from the Controlled Substance Act opening countless doors for this hempsational plant. US Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell presented the bill that legalizes hemp making it an agricultural commodity.

And the Future is Forever Better with the Stroke of a Pen

McConnell has praised Donald Trump’s decision saying;

With the stroke of his pen, President Trump has made it official. My bill legalizing Industrial Hemp is law. Now that the president has signed it, Kentucky’s farmers can continue to lead the nation in the growing, processing, and manufacturing of industrial hemp.”

I am confident the ingenuity of Kentucky’s farmers and producers will find new and creative uses for this exciting crop. We are at the beginning of a new era, and I cannot wait to see what comes next. As Senate Majority Leader, I was proud to do my part to bring hemp back to Kentucky, and I look forward to continuing to support its bright future in the Bluegrass State.”

Hempsational Kentucky Hemp Stats

The state of Kentucky has seen quite a successful run with hemp in 2017. Processor production reports for that year show that 7.5 million dollars were paid to Kentucky growers. 25.6 million in investments and capital improvements were made through the industrial hemp research pilot program processor licenses as well. The 2017 processor production report also showed a total of 16.7 million dollars for gross sales.

The Ripple Effect of Positive Change

All of this from just over 3,200 acres of hemp in the state of Kentucky. Having legal hemp in the United States will now open doors for research into other applications of hemp. In addition, the prices on CBD and hemp clothing will come down. Things such as hemp building materials will also become more readily available. China used to control 50% of the global hemp trade. It looks like that’s all changing now. Perhaps this was part of Trump’s plan all along.
