Each New Year’s Eve thousands of people flock to Times Square in New York City for the annual countdown to the new year. Ads that appear in this area of New York City are thought to be some of the most “precious commercial real estate” according to bizjournals.com. During the New Year’s celebration digital billboards that line this area will be seen by tens of thousands that have gathered in Times Square for this celebration.
Cannabis Ads Coming to Times Square
This year those ads will include ads from a hemp CBD company by the name of Elixinol. Elixinol offers products in over 40 different countries including South America, Japan, and Europe. They first made history with their advertising when it appeared in the infamous Omotesando subway station in Tokyo. There have been other cannabis-related companies that have tried to advertise in this sector such as Weedmaps. However, it never came to fruition.
The move to advertise a hemp-based company in Times Square now is only natural seeing how hemp was just decriminalized as of December 20th. This was when the 2018 Farm Bill received the signature of U.S. President Donald Trump. This is the first time in over 80 years in which this substantially beneficial plant hasn’t been criminalized in the country.
The Details – When You Can Spot the Ads
The Elixinol hemp CBD ads are set to run between 5 p.m. and 2 a.m. Eastern Standard Time on December 31st into the morning of January 1st, 2019. In the joint adventure, there will also be ads from Curved Papers, MTracTech, Restorative Botanicals, My Bud Vase and Cannabis Network Media.
