Currently, there are concerns about THC potency circulating around the internet. These concerns claim that information about cannabis is clouded. New York is one state in particular where some medical professionals are opposing cannabis legalization.
It appears the chance of cannabis legalization on a recreational or retail level for the state of New York has gone up in smoke. The governor of New York has removed cannabis legalization from the current budget. This may or may not have had anything to do directly with the medical community and their THC potency concerns, but they sure didn’t help with the so-called proof of marijuana psychosis.
Their concerns are that THC has become increasingly more potent over the past few decades. They believe that the high THC concentration available in cannabis products today will lead to higher addiction rates and other potential adverse health effects.
Cannabis Cultivates a Craft
The cannabis culture is evolving to become a craft industry. The high THC strains of the past are only attractive to newcomers. They don’t taste all that great and most lack the effects that consumers are after. Many consumers are enjoying consuming cannabis that are bred with focus on the entourage effect.
The Entourage Effect is the theory that all cannabinoids work together. They work in conjunction with one another to create better results than just high THC. This means that a cannabis strain testing at 28% THC with little to no other cannabinoids may not produce as good of results as a plant containing 12% THC with a full spectrum of cannabinoids.
There are loads of research papers published on the NCBI that support the therapeutic uses of cannabinoids. Cannabis today isn’t about the high THC of yesteryear where so many people seem to be stuck when it comes to cannabis. The herb has evolved to include many cannabinoids today, it’s not just about extreme potency. Unfortunately, the high potency of THC is still a drastic concern. Not particularly in regards to it being harmful, but in regard to it being utilized as yet another Reefer Madness propaganda excuse to oppose legalization.
